My Contemporary Artwork
I specialize in modern fine arts and graphic design. I create intense multimedia paintings with acrylics and oil on canvas.
As an artist, I include in my artwork my background knowledge in medical anatomy, as well as my education in fine art, design and art history. I then fuse these concepts in a novel and innovative way to produce vibrant artwork. My art also borrows elements from the High Renaissance painters as well as the post-modern surrealists. Often I marry these essential concepts by merging computerized graphics and traditional painting to give birth to a revolutionary approach to visual interaction with the canvas. I invite each viewer to engage in the piece.
ABSTRACT
Abstract contemporary painting plays a vital role in the ever-evolving landscape of art, offering a platform for bold experimentation and innovative expression. It transcends traditional boundaries, embracing modern tools and techniques to explore form, color, and emotion in ways that resonate deeply with today’s audiences. My approach to this genre involves using computers to create intricate digital art pieces, leveraging advanced software to craft dynamic compositions and abstract forms. These creations are then printed on canvas, serving as the foundation for the final artwork. To bring them to life, I apply acrylic paints, enhancing the texture and depth to transform the flat digital designs into tangible, real-world 3D paintings. This fusion of digital and traditional methods bridges technology and fine art, creating unique pieces that embody the spirit of contemporary abstraction.
AFRO-FUTURISM
African Diaspora Art
Afro-futurism is a cultural and artistic movement that explores the intersection of African and African diaspora culture with technology and speculative fiction. It reimagines the historical narrative of African-descended peoples and projects their future by blending elements of science fiction, historical fiction, fantasy, Afrocentrism, and magical realism with non-Western cosmologies. Afro-futurism addresses themes related to the African experience and its diaspora—both past and future—through a technocultural lens, challenging the ongoing impact of colonialism and envisioning liberating prospects.
What does black identity mean to the many black voices of today? After an extensive history of struggle, subjugation, and liberation, how does a multitude of diverse communities with African heritage identify with their idea of the black ego? And most importantly, how does black identity relate to the spiritual self of true consciousness, that is within each and every one of us?
Artwork derived from Afro-futurism often features a dynamic mix of technological and organic elements, incorporating futuristic or imagined technologies alongside cultural symbols from the African continent and its diaspora.
Here we hope to find the original soul in not only stationed in the heart of each individual but also in the Art, music, culture and the traditions.
Thoughts on Digital Surrealism
Conceptually, surrealism is brought into existence through the eruption of subconscious electrical neural-thought and not derived from the world of physical reality. Therefore the creation of this genre of art requires a limitless environment where digital electrical impulses are allowed to interact in an infinite space. The results, projected on a 2D canvas, are only the pigmented record of these electrical impulses; following their interactions with each other. Thus, the computer mimics my neural thought process and produces a physical record that is then mechanically enhanced by me to approximate my perception of the real world.
SURREALISM
Surrealism is an artistic and literary movement that seeks to explore and express the unconscious mind as a means of transcending the rational and conventional world. Surrealism is marked by a fascination with dreams, the juxtaposition of incongruous elements, and the use of automatism—a method of creating art without conscious thought, relying instead on the spontaneity of the subconscious.
The digitally generated media is an excellent tool that I use to develop surreal concepts. My resulting artwork often presents disrupted logical relationships and ordinary visual expectations to evoke mystery, provoke shock, and challenge preconceived perceptions of reality. This is all intended to liberate the creative process from rational constraints and explore the depths of the human psyche.
FLORAL DESIGN
Floral design, the art of arranging flowers and plant elements in a decorative manner, has a rich history that spans cultures and millennia. This art form involves not only the aesthetic placement of flowers and foliage but also their selection and conditioning to create harmonious and pleasing arrangements. Overall, floral design is not only an art form that adds beauty and elegance to spaces but also a therapeutic tool that can significantly impact psychological well-being and social interactions. Whether in homes, workplaces, or public areas, floral arrangements create a more welcoming and positive atmosphere, enriching the lives of those who encounter them.
Throughout art history, flowers have been much more than mere decorative elements; they have conveyed complex human emotions, religious beliefs, and philosophical ideas. Their universal appeal and rich symbolism make them enduring subjects in the visual arts.
Art Inspired Fashion
Over the last decade, we’ve transformed digital artwork into fabric creations, giving rise to wearable art. Dkdesignfashion, our fashion, draws inspiration from Dkdesignfineart to craft distinctive garments from dye-sublimated fabrics. Most these materials, including polyester, satin, and silk, are sourced from recycled plastic bottles (Reve), ensuring excellent ink adherence.
Our fashion line was showcased at HighTechModa’s fashion show at the Edison Hotel during the Fall 2021 NYFW. This year, I aimed to infuse Life and Energy into the show with vibrant hues like turquoise and gold. This collection reflects my passion for these two colors and explores their harmonious blend in inspiring designs. The combination produces youthful, modern styles for Spring and Summer2022, merging glamour and sophistication to celebrate the timeless union of Turquoise and Gold.
